This is a request for help from anyone that might be reading this space... i wonder sometimes if anyone actually does read this stuff!

As i have said in a previous blog. I am about to embark on a voyage of discovery. I am about to begin an investigation into my family history and the history of the Wingrove name. The problem being... I don't really have any idea where to begin. I have plenty of ideas and plenty of things that i would like to find out and quite a bit of stuff that i already know but i would really appreciate any practical advice on what should be the things that i do first.

My immediate family are all born and bred in Chatham, Kent, England. but i have information that my great grandfather emigrated to New York around the turn of the century, don't have any specifics as yet. apparently he was an electrician which was obviously a bit of a rarity at that time so that should make things a bit easier for me... i hope.

anyway i intend to devote a lot of my time and effort into this subject in the new year and i plan on doing things right so that i have something clear and concise to show the rest of my family and leave to my children eventually. like i said please leave me some comments if you have any ideas, tips or advice of any kind

just done a search for my name on google (admit it you've all done it) and i noticed that this space is seriously getting bumped down the old listings so to remedy this dire situation i have decided to add a couple of entries about myself and my family that will probably help me climb back up the ladder

 

right as you all are probably aware by now, my name is Sean Wingrove. from the Wingrove family of Chatham, Kent, England. I am 27 years old , married to Donna with 2 children...Charlie and Catherine. u can see pics of my family on this space, if you are interested.

 

I am a corporal in the Royal Air Force. have been for the past 8 years. we are living in married quarters at RAF Uxbridge in middlesex at the moment, we have only been here for a few weeks after moving from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire but we really love it here and hope that we get to stay here for a few years.

 

most of my family still live in Chatham, Kent. My dad owns his own construction company (Wingrove Construction ltd) and has been married to my mum for 28 years on 31st december. my sister is training to be a chartered accountant while working for a bank in the city of london. my brother is living in Portsmouth at the moment but will probably be moving back to chatham in the near future.

 

right that is enough for one entry but i will be adding more very soon to tell you more than you ever wanted to know.

 

also i am intending to begin some genealogy investigation in the new year so any comments from any other wingroves will be much appreciated. thanks
