July 22 a requestI'd just like to take this opportunity to ask certain people to please leave us alone. I have a life that i want to get on with and as far as i'm concerned i have everyone in it that i need or want. what other people do is nothing to do with me or my parents so please leave us alone now!
If Donna wants to get in touch with anyone she will and i have no influence on what she does. I can garuantee that i will not attempt to influence her feelings. i accepted what she wanted to do and i really think you all should too!
just to add that i honestly have no ill will towards ANYONE! i just want to be left alone to get on with my life without threats on my life! i don't think that is too much to ask June 16 finally..well not finally but finally, if you know what i mean!Well here is my first blog since arriving in Cyprus, even though i have been here over 3 months now.
didn't realise it was going to take as long as it has to get settled here, but we finally have and starting to get on with enjoying the next 3 years that we have out here.
first of all i can't speak highly enough of the island of cyprus and the people that live here. It is a truly beautiful island and the people are the friendliest that you will find anywhere in the world. the fact that the vast majority of the island speaks english as well as greek is an added bonus too.
work out here is pretty boring for me, i am used to having something to do all of the time so sitting on my arse for most of the day is coming as a bit of a culture shock, don't get me wrong i am not moaning about having nothing to do, it's just...different
Donna and the kids are loving it out here too, Donna has made loads of new friends and the kids are both in school and having the time of their lives.
I think i am just about over, or nearly over what happened last year. i can't believe it has taken this long but as anyone that really knows me will tell you it hit me pretty hard. Anyway it's over now so that's enough about that
so as you can probably tell things are really starting to look up for me and my family after quite a long period of unrest and heartache. i hope i am not tempting fate by saying that!!!
much love to everyone that knows me, fuck it even to those that don't as i'm in a pretty good mood at the moment
take care everyone out there and i wil post again soon when i have thought of something a bit more substantial to say!
later
March 05 final countdownWell it's finally down to less than one week until we are off to Cyprus for 3 years!!!!
been so busy trying to sort things out at work and at home it's been unbelievable. think I'm pretty much sorted now. the nerves and excitement are starting to kick in.
The removal men are coming on thurdsay, then its gonna be a rush job to get the house clean before the march out on friday afternoon. After which i have to go to work to complete some last minute admin/clearing then off to my parents house for the weekend.. give my brother the car, get my dad to drop us off at the airport on tuesday morning
5 1/2 hour flight to akrotiri
should be a car waiting for us there...20 minute drive to episkopi wher someone has already taken over the keys to our new house for us...
cant' wait!!!
can u tell??? January 31 kidnap attempt foiledOnce again i find myself appalled at the current state of affairs, although hardly surprised. It appears from what i can see here that police have foiled an attempt by islamic extremists to kidnap and behead a member of the uk armed forces on uk soil. To top it all the target was also a muslim having served in afghanistan... was this the reason that he was targeted??
i am absolutely staggered by the way this country is heading...take a look back through some of my posts if you think i am joking things that really grip my sh**well i haven't added anything on here for a hell of a long time, but that is not to say that i haven't been busy or that i have nothing to say...just haven't had time to get on here! first of all, you might like to know that i am posted to Cyprus in march so i don't know what is going to happen to this blog thingy then... can't see it will be that much of a problem to get internet access. It's not as though i am moving to the moon or anything. well as you probably gathered by the title of this blog post. this is gonna be all about the things that i personally consider to be of interest to the average british person. the things that are going wrong with this country... i'd like to begin with an admission of guilt if i may. I voted for the labour party in this country at the last local and general elections. in my own defence however i don't really believe that there is any viable opposition to the labour party which is why i believe that they will also win at the next general election....i digress the reason for this admission is that the things that 'grip my shit' the most in this once great country are all the doing of the labour party and its apparenty inablity to carry through with a single one of its promises to the nation. i think that any reasonable person that is reading this... if anyone does in fact read what i write... will agree with me that this country is fast approaching breaking piont. let me begin with the National Health Service
New Labour rose to power in this country on the back of many promises, amongst these was the promise to re-vamp the ailing NHS and to provide the British taxpayer with a world class health service. Ten years on and to put it quite bluntly they have failed. the NHS is in as bad a state as it was in 1997 (if not worse) individual health care trusts now find themselves millions of pounds in the red with the only way to claw back this money being cutting back on staff or services. We have seen to tangible reduction in waiting list times and MRSA and other 'super-bugs' are actually KILLING PEOPLE. Please don't get me wrong i am not in the slightest trying to belittle the work that NHS workers in all hospitals thoughout the country are doing, it is just they they do not have the money, resources or personnel to do the job. This leads me nicely to my next gripe, an absolute travesty of government policy that i myself have had first hand experiece of and demostrate the true cynicism of the Labour machine.
On 11th September 2001, the world received a huge wake up call to the threat of terrorism in the modern world. we have had violent reminders ever since. most notably in this country on 7th July 2005 with the London bombings. Now it is not my place or my wish to debate the morality/ legality of coalition invasions of either Afghanistan or Iraq. suffice to say that is a FACT that British forces were sent to these 2 hostile environments by the democratically elected government of the day. that is enough for most serving personnel... it is our job after all. now what really does enrage me about the state of affairs that we now find our selves in is that despite Tony Blairs hollow words our armed forces are severly underfunded, undermanned and poorly equipped. Despite the fact that our excellent forces are fighting a war on two fronts... that would be the war on terror, for to call it anything but a war is an insult to those that have lost their lives fighting for freedom! This war that has seen and continues to see some of the most ferocious fighting for generations. What do our troops get in return for doing their jobs so well? massive cut backs in manpwer, RAF station closures, ancient army regiments being combined to reduce costs and manpower, naval warships being scrapped, the threat of closure of one of only 3 remaining naval bases, lack of body armour for front line troops etc. etc. why? how? well to start with the professionalism of our armed forces in a way makes this all possible. Our troops get the job done... no matter what. the MOD knows this well and therefore turn a blind eye to the massive cuts safe in the knowledge that the average soldier, sailor, airman will continue to carry out their missions despite not because of the MOD's support. Secondly what could be possibly do anyway? we aren't allowed a union, we aren't allowed to strike, go to the papers and intimidating words like TREASON are banded about all over the place! or the old favourite the officail secrets act is brought out! we have no united voice that together with the fact that the armed forces are the most under represnted voting group... there is your answer the government is saving money because they know that they can get away with it. travel to any army camp, naval base or air force station and talk to the people there and every single one of them if being honest will tell you that things are worse than they have ever been and that our armed forces are at breaking point RIGHT NOW. Mr Blair/ Brown...you have been warned.
As anyone that reads this will already know, the state of law and order in this country is another thing to 'grip my shit' a certain politician once promised us he would be "tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime" hearing those LIES (for there simply is no other words for it) is almost laughable now, well it would be if it wasn't so terrifying. pick up any newspaper, watch any news channel, takl talk to anyone on the street about crime in this country and you will see just how tough we are on crime! just one example...last week a convicted peadophile was released because the home secretary had issue a directive not to put anyone in prison if at all possible! unbelievable. prisons are at maximum capacity as are the holding cells in police stations the length and breadth of the country... what is the government doing about it? NOTHING oooh very tough, i bet the criminal fraternity is quacking in their boots. look out for another installment of 'what grips my shit' soon, when i have calmed down! to include...immigration, education and tv licensing October 12 has it really been that longseems like yesterday that i last updated this thing! not a lot really been going on in my life... seems to be spending everyday...well spending actually. been shopping in harrow, watford, pinner and uxbridge yesterday. got to stop now or i'll be skint before long!
i have got a new fone now its a nokia n73 and its fucking great. 3.2 megapixel camera too.
seen the kids everyday this week, that might explain why i am in such a good mood at the moment...well that and the fact that i am actually getting regular sex again!!!! anyway i can't say anything more about that...can i?
going to portsmouth on sunday for two weeks, some course i have to do for work...not really looking forward to it as i don't know anyone down there and noone else i know is going.
had an idea the other day to put Charlie and Catherine's christmas wish list on here with pics so i'll try to do that today if i get enough time! watch this space...literally
September 28 getting angry now
who are the people that sit on the panel of this programme (question time) and what planet do they live on?
i can't believe that people like piers morgan is allowed to sit on tv and pamper to the politically correct mob and the anti american extremists that sit in the audience.
I'm sure it is about time that the NORMAL people in this country stood up to be counted. the people that don't give a damn about the constant arguement that the war in iraq was illegal, that intelligence was sexed up for public consumption! what we really care about is the welfare of our troops NOW THAT THEY ARE THERE! when they are going to come home! things that really make a difference to us and our loved ones like schools and hospitals and crime and terrorist killing innocent people in this country
why is it that the only people that ever get heard in this country are the PC mob, anti americans, muslims and other ethnic minoritites. now don't for a minute think that i'm a racist or religionist (if that is the right word) i'm not. i'm just trying to give a voice to the millions of people in this country that never get heard...the quite MAJORITY!!! patriotic, hard working people that don't have the time to go to rallies because they have to work to put food on the table for their families, can't appear in the audience of question time because they have to work a second job or can't get a babysitter, don't get their letters printed in newspapers because what they say doesn't sit well with the SUPER POLITICALLY CORRECT editors.
think about it for a minute. these people are the people that elected the labour government because they knew that they would get investmetn in public services and tax credits and better social services. people like you and me that care about this country!!!
thursday...boring...pay day tomorrow
well i have had another boring day stuck in this room for the most part. did get out a couple of times, went to the doctors with donna and the kids as catherine had her mmr jab today. poor little thing screamed the place down for about 10 seconds then was laughing and running around again. i have loved seeing my children so much lately... probably more than i have seen them in a long time, if not ever! taking them shopping with me in watford tomorrow and then down to my parents house in kent tomorrow evening to stay until monday night. should be great, we are going to visit my grandad in hospital on saturday. for those of you that don't know, my grandad is in hospital after having both of his legs amputated. he's been in there for a long time now but is making remarkable progress and at the age of 79 has learned to walk again on two false legs...now that is a brave man right there!!!
A really crap night on the football front as west ham got stuffed in the EUFA cup by Palermo 3-0 after already loosing the first leg at home so after such a long absence from european football, we have fallen at the first hurdle conceding 4 goals and scoring none. seems like things aint going too well down at upton park just lately. I can't help but to associate this with the arrival of the argentinian boys and the talk of a takeover, results hadn't been to bad before all this started and since then we have lost every single game...go figure. the thing that really annoys me about west ham and always has done i suppose is that we have a pretty good squad now and shouldn't be loosing the way we are all the time. i should be used to it by now as i have been a fan all my life but it really bugs me sometimes...take the year we got relegated, we go down with the highest points total for a relegated team in premiership history and with a squad consisting of most of the present england squad and the great paolo dicanio...again go figure!
watching question time while writing this, well listening to it more than watching it. could someone out there please explain to me what is the point of piers morgan???
one of my main problems with this programme is the blair bashing. you'd think that no one in the country voted labour at the last election...people seem to forget that he is prime minister for a reason...we the people voted for him and the labour party...please no comments on how we vote for our local mp's and not the leader of the party. we all know that when we vote labour we are also voting in a quasi presidential election!
the next is...where on earth do they find the audience for this show? what a bunch of freaks. seriously if you watch this show you will know what i mean, members of the audience with an agenda to get across their distorted views and rant at the panel who sit there like they are at a circus side show, it's embarassing to watch sometimes!
so to politics, i only start on this subject because some random woman has just said that if gordon brown becomes the next labour leader then that will ensure that labour loose the next general election! on what is she basing that? her personal dislike for him obviously but lets think about this for a minute... a lot of people disliked tony blair at the time of the last general election but labour still won... the point is...what is the alternative? is anyone going to vote conservative next time? answer this question then... what does the conservative party manefesto consist of? other than a load of eco-friendly, green nothingness...might as well vote for the liberal democrats, or even better the BNP...now there's a thought!!!
September 27 a man's job on a boy's wagei know this is a couple of days old now but i still think it is worth a read
Now i don't particularly agree with the way that the author has made this into some sort of foreign policy related issue, it shouldn't be! it does however highlight a few issues that the great british public is often blind to, or not reminded of enough.
firstly, regardless of your opinion on the war in iraq or the NATO forces in afghanistan or the role of the british serviceman/woman serving anywhere in the world; the fact is they are sent there by THE DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT. we are in these places and that's it we should be more concerned with the pittance that our services are being paid, the poor equipment they are forced to use, the almost complete lack of welfare facilities. rather than the poor people of afghanistan/iraq that continue to blow british servicemen to pieces as often as possible.
secondly, perhaps it is because i am serving in the armed forces myself but i really think that this should be headline news EVERY DAY! not for any other reason than to let the thousands of young men and women fighting on our nations behalf all across the world that we support them and care about what they are doing for their/our country. I can honestly say from experience that these places are lonely and it would be nice to have some staunch support from back home rather than people bleeting on about how we shouldn't be there, all the while our friends and comrades are dying!
what do you think?
here is the newspretty mixed bag toda i think most people would agree.
i'm sure the labour party will be glad that something else has grabbed the headlines to replace the major cock ups or recent days. but surely the main headline shouldn't be a cleaner trying to blackmail someone. there are some serious news stories happening in the uk and aroun the world and i'm sorry but i just don't really care if a cleaner nicked some dodgy videos.
apparently surgeons have conducted the worlds first operation in zero gravity, now i think this is a very impressive achievement but what is the point? how many of us are going into space in the near future or are going to need a zero gravity operation? my guess is approximately none!
i would also like to take the opportunity to express my sincerest condolences to the family of little Cadey-Lee Deacon who was killed earlier this week by a couple or rottweilers. I am a father of two young children and i cannot begin to imagine the grief that the parents are going through. they have asked to be left alone to mourn and i hope that is the case. I should also add that the family had a double tradegy when the grandfather was stabbed and his partner killed ON THE SAME DAY by some scum bag. i sincerly hope that the complete waste of space that did this is made an example of, although we all know that's not going to happen.
this country will never be free from the fear of people that kill and injure indiscriminately until the judicial system wake up and smell the coffee. the citizens of this country no matter, what social or ethnic background they are from deserve to be kept safe. THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS IS TO LOCK UP CRIMINALS FOR A VERY LONG TIME. If there isn't enough room in the prisons that we have...simple answer to me is that we build more. Also while i am on the subject i think we should have a high security prison soley for terrorists. anyone have any views on that idea???
one last thing...Britiain's have the highest level of personal debt in europe. Does this really surprise anyone at all?
i could go into the reasons for this but i think we all know them so i'm not even going to bore you! September 26 no friendsi'm beginning to think that nobody read the shit that i write on here so i don't know whether i should just give up
i never get any comments or feedback from anyone not even my supposed friends
if there is anyone reading this and you actually give a fuck about what is happening in my little world
then here goes...
Donna and i have sorted things out! its all good now
there are obviously issues that each of us need to sort out individually but there are no outside influences
having any effect on what goes on between us now, which is kinda refreshing
charlie and catherine are doing really well, they just got back from a weekend at mum and dad's (nan and grandad's)
they had a great time and charlie got his birthday present from my parents... his first proper bike
i've got 3 weeks off work now and i intend to try to get some of the furniture and stuff moved out of the house at uxbridge
the sooner i get rid of that place the better if u ask me
hoping to get a new place as soon as i have got rid of that one so it has to be a priority for me now! i have charlie
with me in my room tonight but it is far from ideal so i need a house or something that i can take them too until
i have really sorted my life out...and donna has sorted hers out too!
anyone in the raf that reads the shit i write...take a look at www.e-goat.co.uk
September 23 the sound of thunderIt is time to stop living in the past and having regrets
time to stop wondering...what if
it is time to live my life right now
to do what i really want to do and to be happy
i have a wonderful family and two beautiful children
it is time to realize what i DO have and stop fretting about what i don't have
I cannot change what has happened i can only learn from the past and try to ensure that bad things
don't happen again
but at the end of the day...BAD THINGS HAPPEN
thats a fact
i have to accept
September 19 time to catch upwell here we go again
i have finally got the internet up and running in my room at northwood...got a new bt home hub and its pretty good i have to say, despite the fact that i am currently using a fucking shitty old pc as my laptop got totally fucked up when i dropped it!
claiming on insurance for a new laptop though so hopefully, fingers crossed it wont take too long
on the personal front things are really looking up
donna and i are really getting on again and i have seen the kids loads which has made me really really happy and them too i think!
for anyone that has my mobile number and thinks that i am ignoring them...i aint but my phone has been cut off because it was in donna's name so i can only recieve texts and calls and not make any at the moment...until i get a new contract fone...which again i hope to do very soon
August 31 guess whatGreat news, having charlie and catherine for the weekend at my parents house
can't wait it's gonna be absolutely great!!! i have bought charlie's birthday presents today...he's gonna love em
